Capitol Hill Teacher Nadine Bergstrom and class raise over $15,000 for diabetes
Nadine Bergstrom and her class at Capitol Hill raised $15,251.75 for the American Diabetes Association in their School Walk for Diabetes. The class raised the most funds in the State of Minnesota and placed eighth in the nation.

Teacher Karen Christenson nominated for national award
Karen Christenson, a science specialist at St. Anthony Park, has been nominated to be the National Project Learning Tree (PLT) Outstanding Educator of the Year award. Karen was nominated by a colleague at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) because of her support for PLT in teacher workshops and for incorporating forestry into her teaching. There are five winners each year and only one educator can be nominated per year from each state. Winners will be announced in February.

2014 School Choice Fair a success
More than 2,500 people attended the Saint Paul Public Schools 2014 School Choice Fair on Saturday, January 11, at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. Families learned about SPPS schools, community organizations, as well as some local charter and private schools.

Families can tour individual schools beginning Jan. 15 through Feb. 25 during SPPS School Open Houses. The enrollment priority deadline for next school year is February 15, 2014. Families can visit apply.spps.org for more information.
