From the Superintendent:

Dear Colleagues:

That was a much needed long weekend. I hope you enjoyed your time with family or friends as much as I did. For many years I spent Thanksgiving in Chile visiting my mother. While I miss her every single day, I enjoyed staying in town this year, avoiding the crush of holiday travel, and simply relaxing for a few days.

With only three weeks until our winter break, I’m sure our pace will now increase considerably as we work to meet all our deadlines by Dec. 19. I look forward to seeing many of you when I visit your schools. I’ll also be holding more Sharing with Superintendent meetings both before and after winter break. I love hearing your thoughts and ideas.

Let me also take this opportunity to thank those of you who contributed to our SPPS Employee Giving Campaign. It looks like fewer people gave, but at higher levels. As a result, we fell a little short of our goal of $150,000, but not by much. With such a busy fall, I’m grateful to those of you who took the time to give – and I know that many more give in other ways to ensure our students’ success.

Stay warm this week, my friends.

Your very proud superintendent,
