Boost energy and ease stress in 10 minutes
As the weather begins to change and the daylight hours shorten, you may find yourself with decreased energy levels. If so, your first instinct may be to reach for a sugary drink or candy bar. While these foods will supply you with a short-term energy boost, they will not have long-lasting effects. Try to “take 10” instead: it takes as little as 10 minutes of light physical activity to renew your energy and ease stress during your workday or at home.

The next time your energy is low, give some of these suggestions a try:

  • Take a stand. Get out of your seat and take a 10 minute standing break.
  • Go for a walk. Take a 10-minute walk during lunch or enjoy a walking break later in the day.
  • Stretch it out. Get up 10 minutes earlier in the morning to stretch. Start and end meetings by stretching, or take time to do it in the afternoon after you’ve been sitting at your desk for a few hours. View 10 simple stretches you can do anywhere
  • TV challenge. When you are watching TV and sitting on the couch for long periods of time, challenge yourself to move more. Get up and try some stretches like touching your toes or reaching high above your head.

Flu and Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria & Pertussis “Whooping Cough”) clinics will be held in October and November. Insurance accepted includes Medica, Blue Cross Blue Shield, HealthPartners, Preferred One, UCare, America’s PPO, Prime West, South Country Health Care Alliance and Medicare.
