Get your site ready for Wellness Week, May 4-8
Saint Paul Public Schools is celebrating Wellness Week -- a district-wide initiative to focus on student and staff health and wellness, May 4-8. Healthy students learn better and healthy employees work better. Students and staff across the district will participate in a wellness activity for each day, focusing on mental health, nutrition and physical activity.

Here’s a list of Wellness Week activities:

Monday, May 4 -- Mindful Monday: Attend a presentation on stress and resiliency to support Mindful Monday. This presentation is led by SandCreek Employee Assistance program and focuses on characteristics of resilience and being more resilient can shape the overall quality of our lives. The presentation is from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Conference Room B at 360 Colborne St. Reserve your spot here.

Tuesday, May 5 -- Try it Tuesday: A new vegetable will be available to all SPPS students and staff today on the Choice Bar. Wear green to show your support of fruits and veggies and stop in at an SPPS cafeteria to check out the featured veggie.

Wednesday, May 6 -- Walk n’ Roll Wednesday: May 6 is National Bike and Walk to School Day. Grab your sneakers, snap on your helmet and walk or bike to work today. All students and staff who walk or bike to school/work will receive an “I Walked or Rolled” sticker. The site with the highest participation will receive the traveling trophy. If your site is interested in participating, visit the Wellness website for more information and register your location.

Thursday, May 7 -- Taste Test Thursday: SPPS students and staff recently submitted recipes for the cold salad recipe contest. The winning recipe was an Apple Kohlrabi salad submitted by Jessica Kullander at Adams Spanish Immersion. Featuring kohlrabi, carrots and apples, this recipe is both healthy and delicious. Check out this winning combination on the Choice Bar at any SPPS cafeteria.

Friday, May 8 -- Flash Mob Fit Friday: Thanks to the students and staff at Central High School who put together this original routine. Take a break and get your groove on to this new flash mob fave!
