Employee wellness

Five tips to de-stress
Some things you can practice when you are feeling anxious or stressed:

  • Step away from your desk: Physically stepping away from your desk or workstation to eat lunch or take a short walking break can be very helpful. Time away from your work to re-charge and briefly relax can actually help you be more productive, not less.
  • Breathe deep: Taking a few deep abdominal breaths can help decrease your body’s natural reaction to stress, such as heightened blood pressure and increased heart rate.
  • Laugh more: Laughter can be one of the best stress relievers. Try to find a way to lighten the mood by sharing a joke or funny story with a co-worker.
  • Separate work from home: Even though it is impossible to “turn off” your stress, it’s important to embrace your time with loved ones and make time for your own self-care.
  • Seek support: Discuss your feelings and worries with those close to you. As uncomfortable as it may be, especially at first, it is important to verbalize and process what you are going through.

If you could benefit from additional support do not hesitate to utilize the Employee Assistance program, Sand Creek. It offers free, confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referral, and follow up. Professional counselors are experienced in helping people identify and find solutions to personal issues such as:

  • Relationships
  • Financial Concerns
  • Parent/Child Issues
  • Depression
  • Substance Abuse
  • Job Stress
  • Gambling
  • Childcare or Eldercare
  • Loss and Grief
  • Other Life Concerns
