Karen font now available on all SPPS computers
The district   language font is now available on every SPPS computer.

This means that if a colleague sends you a translated document in Karen, you can now see the language, instead of random symbols and numbers. Previously, the font was available for download at spps.org but required a technology staff member to install it.

The Karen font does not work in Google Docs or emails to families and other stakeholders who do not have the font installed. Please continue saving translated Karen documents as a pdf before attaching to an email.

The font will appear in font drop down menus as: KNU.

Note: Office 2008 on Macintosh computers may not automatically display the font in the font drop down menu. Macintosh users may first need to type the font name (KNU) in the drop down or font menu in order to use it in Office 2008. If a Word document you open already includes the font, it should display correctly.

In correlation with the Barry Manilow Concert at the Excel Center on April 7, a press release announced the Manilow Music Project is supporting Saint Paul Public Schools Music Program in two very exciting ways.

  1. A piano will be donated to a Saint Paul Public School. A Manilow Music Project Piano Contest will determine the school to receive a new Yamaha Piano. Interested schools should follow these contest rules.
  2. Anyone who donates a gently used musical instrument will receive a free ticket to the Barry Manilow Concert. The Xcel Energy Center Box Office will be the base for the instrument drive in Saint Paul from Friday, April 1 through Thursday, April 7. The instrument drop off location at Xcel Energy Center is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. SPPS will be the recipient of these donated instruments so spread the word!
