Summer Term dates and sites announced
Details about SPPS Summer Term (S-Term) 2015 have been announced. S-Term 2015 will be composed of S-Term Session 1, S-Term Session 2, Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom Schools, and SPPS Multi District Programs.

Start and end times for each S-Term site will be posted at a later date in The Bridge. S-Term 2015 program, registration and application information will be posted on the Summer Term website and/or communicated in The Bridge.

Session 1: June 15 - July 9

  • No students on Friday, July 3
  • Friday, June 12 is a prep day for STS I – no students

Multi District Programs (MDP) Dates to be announced in February.

SPPS staff interested in applying to work during S-Term 2015 should apply on the SPPS Human Resources website.

Employment applications will be accepted as follows:

  • Site administrators: Deadline is this Wednesday, Jan. 21
  • Site leaders: Deadline is this Friday, Jan. 23
  • All other S-Term staffing positions: accepted Jan. 26 - Feb. 13.

Information about this week's Professional Development Day
Elementary schools have a full day of professional development scheduled for Friday, Jan. 23. Much of the day is being planned by each school/site, but a few district-wide professional development offerings are available. Please see the District PD website to learn more.

FIRST Lego League robotics tournament is Saturday Jan. 24 at Washington Tech
More than 50 SPPS elementary and middle school teams will compete Saturday, Jan. 24 in the FIRST Lego League robotics tournament at Washington Technology Magnet School. Teams will compete with their customized, programmable robots on a giant game board. Team members also will present solutions to this year’s challenge problem: How can we help people learn in new ways?

The tournament is free and open to the public. The opening ceremony starts at 8 a.m. The awards ceremony concludes the tournament at 5 p.m. 3M provided funding for 53 teams in SPPS this year.
