The Dec. 8 issue of the Office of Multilingual Learning newsletter is now available.

Highland Park Senior students leading professional development session at MRC
Highland Park Senior High School students will lead a professional development session 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the Multicultural Resource Center in Washington Technology Magnet School.

The session, called “Inequities - Local and Global: Students' Perspectives,” will focus on inequities the students researched as part of their health class. The students, who developed the session, will present information, lead discussions and activities, and share resources to use in your class. Topics will include gender-based violence and other inequities currently happening in Pakistan, Afghanistan, South Africa and the United States. 

The session is free and open to students, staff, families and community members. SPPS employees may register on PD Express under Racial Equity. Non-SPPS employees may register by contacting the MRC at mrc@spps.org or 651-744-2635.

Print, Copy and Mail Center open during winter break
The Print, Copy & Mail Center will be open for business during winter break. Please submit orders for School Choice Fair materials as early as possible. The print center can produce brochures, handouts, posters, fliers, cards and more.

Special Education Family Groups Transition Fair is Friday, Jan. 16
The Special Education Family Groups Transition Fair is 5-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Bridge View School.

The Transition Fair is for families of children ages 12-21 who are planning for transition. There will be resource tables about employment, housing, school and community opportunities. Post secondary options will also be available. There will also be presentations on:

  • accessing health care and health care options
  • Olmstead and Employment First
  • Disability Benefits 101
  • integrated housing.

Child care is available upon registration. A light meal will be provided. More information is available here.
