All staff: S-Term information now available
Now is the time to start thinking about summer! Guidebooks and registration forms have arrived at school sites and are being sent home in backpacks for K-5 students who qualify for S-Term. Eligible students in grades 6-8 received S-Term information via U.S. mail last week.

The priority deadline for families is April 15, 2016. Applications will be accepted after this date. Please contact the Office of Alternative Education at 651-744-8020 with questions.

All staff: S-Term staff applications now open
Applications are now being accepted for S-Term Session 1 and Session 2.  See the list of jobs and requisition numbers here and apply at hr.spps.org.

S-Term site administrators will receive staffing allocations and will hire staff for their assigned session based on program need and student enrollment.

Elementary School Principals and Staff: Continue to promote SNAPSHOT research study, encourage qualifying families to enroll
SPPS Student Health & Wellness is partnering with the University of Minnesota School of Nursing on this research opportunity. Funded by the National Institutes of Health, SNAPSHOT is a study that focuses on encouraging children and their families to make healthier choices around nutrition and physical activity.

Recruitment for 2nd-4th grade students and parents/guardians is underway through the end of the 2015-16 school year. Participation will begin with the 2016-17 school year. Please continue to help get the word out.

Elementary and Secondary Science teachers: Call Belwin Outdoor Science to schedule field trips
Spring is in the air. Get your students outside and meet science standards at Belwin Outdoor Science. There are 10 school days open at Belwin between now and June 10.

Please call Belwin Outdoor Science at (651) 744-7120 or email Geoff Urban at geoff.urban@spps.org to schedule your field trip date(s). Because Belwin is an SPPS science program, admission is free for SPPS classrooms. Belwin’s capacity is two classrooms, or 60 students, per day. Dates will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Please include the following information in your email:

  • School Name
  • Grade Level (or subject taught)
  • Teacher Name(s)

Belwin Outdoor Science has helped connect nearly 550,000 SPPS students to nature through meaningful science experiences. All Belwin Outdoor Science classes address science standards tested on the Science MCA III.

All staff: Attend a retirement insurance session
Human Resources at SPPS is sponsoring a series of monthly meetings about the district’s retirement insurance benefits, personnel policies and severance program. All meetings will be held at 360 Colborne St.

Reserve a spot at one of the meetings by emailing megan.jonesarko@spps.org. You will receive an email confirming your reservation. Please include your name (and spouse’s name if spouse plans to attend), employee ID, job title and the meeting date and time you plan to attend. More information is available here.
